Roadside Eats Brings Southern Sandwiches to Hollywood

From the people behind a couple of westerly eateries (Rush Street, City Tavern) comes a brand new Southern sandwich shop, conveniently located across from The Arclight on Sunset Boulevard.
Of course, these aren’t ordinary sandwiches. Think meaty selections such as Carolina-style Pulled Pork, Barbeque Chicken, Low and Slow Brisket and Hickory-Smoked Tri Tip. Or even interesting, zesty seasonings within the sandwiches, like Pecan Fried Chicken, Cajun-Glazed Shrimp Po’ Boys and Fried Green Tomato BLTs.
What’s more, each sandwich can be customized. Add toppings like spicy chow chow, pimento cheese and pickled green tomatoes – special condiments dreamt up by City Tavern Chef, Jessica Christensen. If you’re watching your carb intake, you’ll be happy to know that each sandwich on the menu can also be ordered Greens-Style as a salad, with a choice of house-made herb vinaigrette or buttermilk ranch.
All ingredients besides the buns are made in-house, so you know that they’ve put the utmost care into every single component. Sides like baked beans complete with trimmings, creamy coleslaw and even vinegary coleslaw will serve as great accompaniments, as well a rotating selection of salads like Watermelon and Edamame salad, and Baby Kale and Roasted Butternut Squash.
Wash it all down with housemade lemonade, sweet tea, rotating beers on tap or craft beer by the can. As for dessert, choose from handheld fried apple, cherry and peach pies, or pick a slice of pie, a cup of vanilla soft serve or homemade cookies.
Whether you’re pre-gaming before a movie at The Arclight or just grabbing lunch, Roadside Eats is just the pit stop to satisfy your hunger for delicious food and great ingredients – all while perhaps enjoying a beer. It will be a great addition to the ongoing revival of Sunset and Ivar.
